Three letters dealing with the following: Mormon evacuations from Nauvoo, Illinois; the unwavering stand of the anti-Mormon faction in Keokuk, Iowa; Brockman's first attack on Nauvoo; treacheray of alleged anti-Mormons, and current conditions in Nauvoo. Correspondents include Hawkins Taylor, H.J. Campbell, Andrew Johnston, Henry Ashbury, and General H. Stevens. Also his "Ultimatum" to the commanding officer in Nauvoo and the Trustees-in-Trust of the Church, dated September 15, 1846, stating the following: Mormons to leave the city in five days; all persons, for whom writs have been issued, to be surrendered; all arms to be surrendered; a committee of five and their families to be allowed to stay in Nauvoo until May 1847 to dispose of property; if all these provisions met, posse pledges not to destroy "person or property."
